Trash Can Rounds Three, Four and Five

Last Thursday I ordered a 32-gallon trash can from Staples. I had to buy the lid separately. :/ When I got my confirmation e-mail from Staples, the only thing on there was the lid. I called back and they said UPS wouldn't deliver something that big to the Post Office. Background - I live within a quarter-mile radius of the post office, so I do not get mail delivered to my apartment. It is considered an undeliverable address. UPS uses the USPS list of addresses to deliver their packages. ::Eye roll::

So, I canceled the lid, since it didn't do me any good without the trash can. On Monday, UPS delivered the lid TO MY HOUSE.

Today, I went round three, four and maybe five with, alternately, UPS, Staples, UPS and Staples again. UPS insisted they could deliver the trash can to my door. Staples insisted it was to big according to their contract with UPS. After over two hours on the phone, I will be getting my trash can delivered to my door on Thursday! At least I already have a lid for it - free of charge, since I canceled the order last week and the lady said go ahead and keep it. WHEW!

And I thought I had it bad with USPS living in the boonies. At least UPS will deliver to me out here!

Yeah, this having to go to the Post Office to get my mail sucks. Plus the UPS crap. The nearest grocery store is 15 miles away. It has it's advantages in that it's quiet and relatively crime-free. But there are more disadvantages than advantages. If I could afford it, I would definitely move closer to civilization.

I'm on the Warrior River down in Alabama... way, way out in the boonies. Literally so close to the river, I can stand on my back deck and toss a rock in if I aim right. I have to avoid the two neighbors right on the river so throw between the houses. *grin* Good side: quiet, peaceful, see wildlife in the backyard. Bad side: Civilization is 30 minutes to an hour's drive away depending on how civilized you want to get. The grocery store - 45 miles! But it's nice and quiet out here!

Wow! I'm a lot closer to civilization. Dang, girl, do you still have dial-up? Electricity? Just kidding. It is so nice and peaceful out in the sticks. I prefer it to actually living in the city.

What boggles MY mind about this whole thing, is that they would sell a garbage can and a lid as two separate items. Who in their right mind uses a garbage can without a lid? What would be the point? O_o

I'm glad you're going to end up with what you wanted in the first place, even if it did require a herculean effort. Good for you, being persistent! And a pox on Staples for not knowing what their delivery company of choice will/won't do. That's basic customer service, people!

I figured it was just a ploy to make more money. I found the same can WITH a lid at Lowes, but they wanted $79 dollars to deliver a $35 garbage can 15 miles to my house. I pretty much said, WTF? and hung up on them.

Yeah, Staples blamed UPS and UPS blamed Staples for not knowing what the contract between them stated. Round and round we went. But at least I'm getting the garbage can. :D
