On Monday I went to see my new Cardiologist for the first time. He was great. He spent almost an hour with me, talking about everything about my health. He was really easy to talk to and he listened to what I said. I asked him about switching my main blood pressure med because the one I am on is so expensive. He agreed and said that Norvasc is better for my blood pressure than the old med and that it wouldn't tend to make my ankles and feet swell like the old one. He sent in a prescription right then to my pharmacy. It will cost me just over $2. I'm so happy. I couldn't believe it. So, I'm off to Wally World to pick it up. :D

Round Two

My tooth felt better Wednesday evening, but I still kept waking up every four to five hours in pain because the Vicodin had worn off. Thursday was pretty much the same. I knew the pain was mostly from trauma from the dentist pulling the tooth. It took a while to get it out and my gums and lip felt sort of bruised. Then during the night last night, it started getting worse, worse than before. This morning I woke up and took a Vicodin at 5:30, then I went back to bed. I set my alarm for 8:30, and got up. The pain was excruciating. I called the dentist, which is why I had set my alarm. They got me in at 10:30.

Sunday and yesterday the pain from my tooth was manageable until about 7am. Then, even though I took the Vicodin, it was horrible. I almost went back to the ER. Then, suddenly, the Vicodin kicked in after 2 hours and it was fine. It was fine the rest of the day and all day today until about an hour ago.

It was feeling so much better that I thought the antibiotics had started to work and things were on the mend. So, when I went to Wall World, I got some extra-strength Tylenol and took that instead of the Vicodin. Right about now, I hate Dr. House. If it weren't for watching that show and seeing how an addiction to Vicodin effected him, I wouldn't have been so scared of getting addicted and I would have taken the Vicodin. Since Vicodin has Tylenol in it, I have to wait like four hours before I can take a Vicodin. Right now it's bearable, so I'm hoping the Tylenol is going to give me at least a little relief. We'll see.

We have this clinic called Convenient Care in Oneonta. I was in so much pain that I called to make an appointment. Their ad in the Yellow Pages clearly states Same Day Appointment. They open at 9am. I called at 9:20. They had no appointments available for today. They had one for tomorrow, but I told them no. My head was throbbing, so I went to the ER.

It was great. I waited for about 10 minutes in the waiting room and about 5 minutes in the exam room. The doctor came in, looked at my tooth and wrote me a prescription for an antibiotic and some Vicodin. Now I'm a cappy hamper, a crappy hamster, a happy camper. Just call me Dr. House. This is the gooooooood stuff.

Whew! What a relief.

Yesterday I went to Wally World because I was out of people food as well as cat food. I also had to pick up some prescriptions. I went to the pharmacy first and the cashier asked to see my insurance card so they could check and see if the meds had gone through. She said they were very expensive - ONE was $215 and another was $98. I nearly passed out. They ran the card and found out that the meds had gone through, but the doctor had ordered a three-month supply of both. They are two of the most expensive meds I take, so thanks, doc! I got a one-month supply of both and ended up paying $150 for four prescriptions. Not so good, since I take 12 altogether. :/
