Jeweled Vixen

Foster Dad John tries to come in and play with the kittens twice a day to get them used to being around people before adoption. John also has a son, Chris, who he calls the Minion. The Minion helps him with the foster kitties. Chris had been a little camera-shy, but has gotten over that. He very occasionally comes in instead of John to play with the kittens. He brings his tablet and answers questions that the viewers ask him in the chat window on the live stream. Here is the elusive Minion.

Big things happened for the kittens today. BIG things! They are big enough now that John redid the room and moved them to the next size room. The big toy to the right has been dubbed the Mewniverse by the viewers because it looks like it has planets hanging from it. There will be one more upgrade later on. Pics!

John just finishing up and petting Kari since she was not happy with this whole process. She talked to him the whole time and not in her usual "I adore you!" voice, but more like, "What are you doing to my babies and my house?".

Yesterday evening, we had expected thunderstorms. But about 6:00pm, they started posting severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado warning for my area, actually naming my town as being in the path of the funnel cloud they had seen forming. I was watching NCIS reruns and I never actually got to see the full episodes. The lights would go out, a minute later they would come back on, The lights would go out, a minute later they would come back on. Lather, rinse, repeat for two hours. Then, it calmed down. THEN at 9:15, the rain started in earnest and the thunderstorm kicked into high gear, with heavy winds, rain and hail.

About 9:30, in the middle of Criminal Minds, the lights went out for good. I went to look out the back door to see if all the lights were out in the apartment complex. CRAP! I had had a package delivered and there it was on the back step, sitting in the rain. There I was in my t-shirt and underwear trying to retrieve it in the gale-force winds. At first, I couldn't even open the door because it was so windy. I finally got the box inside. It was, of course, soaking wet. I hope it's ok. It's a stand fan.

Anyway, I could see the electric crew outside on the street working on the problem. I went to bed and tried to sleep using my back-up O2. It's hard for me to sleep without my CPAP. I snore and wake myself up constantly. But I did manage to fall asleep until the lights came back on at 1:40am. YAY! I got up, turned the main O2 back on, shut off the back up tank, hooked the O2 to my CPAP and went back to bed. I slept great until about 8:30 this morning.

I hope everyone else managed to make it through the storm as well as I did. I have friends in the Albany area where the storm was headed. I sent them messages to see if they made it ok. I haven't heard back, but it's only been a little while.

I wanted to do an update because there are a couple of developments with the kittens. First, Adam, the buff colored kitten now has black fur on his back legs and tail, as well as around the edges of his ears. How adorable is that?

Happy May Day Everyone!

I was sitting here working on my A Softer World challenge for ncis_verse when I heard kids voices outside, a lot of them. They come around a couple of times a year from the school just down the street. They are the grade school kids, ages 7-11 or so. I knew they were going to be ringing my doorbell, but couldn't figure out why. Then it dawned on me. IT'S MAY DAY! They make up little May Day gifts to give the people and go around and deliver them. This year it is a piece of colored paper with a flower pot on it and a flower in it. It's all made of paper and foam. It says Happy May Day. They all yelled "Happy May Day!" when I opened the door. It was a nice way to start the day. :)

Yesterday I Googled a business here in town to see where it is located. A map came up on the Google search, so I clicked on it. It was one of those maps that are actual pictures of the area. After I found the business, I decided, just for fun, so see my apartment on the map. Sure enough, there it was, along with my car sitting right there in front of it. It was kind of weird seeing my apartment and my car on a map that anyone can find on the internet. I know they have those maps of NYC, Paris, Sydney and all the big cities, but it's strange to see that they've finally gotten around to Nowhere, NY, population 23.

I had to do an overnight pulse ox study to see if my CPAP machine is still working for me the way it should by keeping me from waking up over and over due to lack of oxygen and/or snoring. My home care company is over an hour away, so they sent the pulse ox to me by Fed Ex and included a return sticker for me to put on the box so I could return it to them. All I had to do was call Fed Ex and they would pick it up at my apartment. I could have left it outside, but it was raining and besides, it's medical equipment and I didn't want anything to happen to it, so I chose to keep it inside and have them ring the door bell when they got there.

Only problem was, their range was somewhere between 8am and 8pm. (WTF?) So I got up at 7am yesterday and surfed around on the computer for a while. Then I went into the living room around 9:30 and did some reading. I fell asleep sometime before noon. When the door bell finally rang, it scared the snot out of me. I stumbled to the door, the guy scanned the box and took off. It was 4:45pm.

I live out in the sticks. There is no way this guy is going to show up before noon, so why make me get up at the crack of dawn (for me) and wait all day when you and I both know it's going to be late afternoon before he gets this far north?

Jeez, Time Warner came the other day and they gave me a time of between 9am and 10am and he was there shortly before 10. That's more like it.

Today was Adoption Day and I just wanted to let everyone know that all the kittens and the mom were adopted and are now in their new homes. I pray they live happily ever after. :)

The large cat condo in the corner is known as the Tardis. The kittens love it. But they aren't the only ones. While they sleep, someone else sneaks in and takes over the Tardis.
