It's been an epic couple of days for equal rights in the United States.

First, the Supreme Court struck down DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, making it possible for people to marry whoever they choose, whether that be a same-sex partner or a partner of the opposite sex.

At the same time, they struck down Prop 8 in California which forbid same-sex couples from marrying. Same sex marriages could begin again in California within a couple of months. (Take that Mormons!)

Same sex couples and GLBTQ people are celebrating all across the country and they should be. They have won major victories this week.

Although these issues don't involve same sex marriage, let's not forget to celebrate the epic filibuster in Texas by Senator Wendy Davis to stop a bill that would severely limit the availability of abortion in Texas.

Also, the Senate passed a huge immigration reform bill that gives illegal immigrants a way to become citizens.

All of these are reasons to celebrate. Go buy a party hat and a noise maker. It's time to party!
