Oxygen-Powered Alarm Clock
12/24/12 12:48 pmMy main oxygen concentrator has been acting up for about a year now. I can't shut it off because when I turn it back on, it stays on for two or three miutes, then alarms and shuts off. It does that 3,4,5 times before it will stay on. Two nights ago, it started alarming in the middle of the night. I got up to turn it off and back on. I knew it wouldn't stay on, so I sat on the couch and went through the alarm, shut it off, turn it back on, wait, repeat about four times before it stayed on. Then I went back to bed.
Last night, it did it again in the middle of the night. I got up and went through the whole routine, then went back to bed. It alarmed again at 8:30 this morning. I'd finally had enough and called my home care company. They are never happy to hear from me because I am the only customer this far out from their office. NO ONE from there has been here to my apartment and I've lived here for five years. They grudgingly came to Oneonta when I lived with my sister. Now I'm 20 minutes farther away. So they gave me a little bit of a hard time.
But the guy who came was nice as pie. He told me that there is a filter inside the concentrator that should be changed every two years. I've had that old one for six and NO ONE has ever come and changed it. So, now I have a brand new one and I'm happy as a clam. :D
